An allergy presents itself when the immune system in genetically predisposed individuals, triggers an exaggerated reaction to protein substances that are usually harmless: the organism in such individuals regards them as foreign (“non-self”) and thus, as allergens.

The very first contact with the allergen source (=sensibilisation) can cause such an immediate and acute chain reaction (=allergic symptoms) for future contacts. In this way, the sooner preventative measures are adopted with regards to the removal or reduction of allergic sources, the more blocked is the development of allergic inflammatory pathology.

What does ISAC represent?

The amount of the allergen-specific IgE antibodies in the serum allows us to identify the allergen to which one is sensitive to.
This is where the ISAC test comes in, by exploiting proteomics, it can identify a vast number of allergenic molecules.
Thanks to innovative nanotechnologues with BioChip-microarray, by extracting a patient serum it is possible to compare the specific IgE with more than 100 molecules that could be the cause of allergy in adults and children.

It is a reliable, consistent and standardized test.

This comparison includes, among others, the main molecules of numerous allergens such as:

• plants: grass polen, parietaria, trees, etc.
• pets: cats, dogs, etc.
• insects: wasps, mites, etc.
• molds: Alternaria, Cladosporium, Aspergillus
• foods: milk, eggs, fish, wheat, soybeans, nuts (peanuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, cashew, ...), etc.
• pan allergens: cross-reactive allergenic proteins present in different types of vegetables and fruit peel and pulp.
