LASER TREATMENT

The term laser stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.
In simpler terms, the stimulation and subsequent return to the resting state of electrons of an element called activated medium, generates a coherent and collimated monochromatic radiation (meaning a single wavelength) that interacts with the surrounding matter (in our case the skin or dermal tissue) and is absorbed by selective target structures known as chromophores -such as haemoglobin, melanin, water - and releases all its energy in a very short time.
In the field of cosmetic and surgical medicine there is a specifically coded laser light source for each single disease, capable of perfectly interacting with a specific chromophore. For this reason our Medical Centre offers a wide range of state-of-the-art laser equipment each with specific characteristics:

Intense Pulsed Light IPL
It is a polychromatic light generated by a high intensity non-coherent and non-collimated Xenon lamp whose wavelengths range from 400 to 1200 nm. In this case there is no chromophore or selective target structure but a spectrum of wavelengths capable of interacting with various substances ranging from haemoglobin to water, melanin, etc.
In cosmetic medicine it is used in many procedures: face, neck and neckline refreshment, red stretch marks, treatment of age spots, semi-permanent hair removal.

CO2 and fractionated CO2 lasers
The active medium or source of this laser is a gas discharge consisting of CO2 and its chromophore (target) is water. Depending on the selected mode, the indications for the use of this laser are the removal of all superficial benign skin lesions and ablative skin resurfacing for the treatment of severe facial rhytidosis.
Fractional CO2 laser uses the same principles as the traditional laser, thanks to the interposition of a grid at the tip of the active medium that which makes it possible to treat only the interested area while keeping intact the remaining skin area. Thus, although it has a burning effect when applied on the skin it is necessary for the end results as the specific treatment allows for rapid healing of the skin.
The fractional CO2 laser treatment is mainly indicated for facial skin rejuvenation.

Alexandrite 750 nm
An alexandrite laser uses an alexandrite crystal as a laser source or medium that has as a chromophore the melanin contained in the hair bulb. Therefore, this laser is used for semi-permanent hair removal.

Nd Yag 1064 nm
This type of laser is mainly indicated for the treatment of small-calibre vascular lesions.

Nd Yag QSwitched
This active medium is a neodymium yttrium-aluminium-garnet which at the different selected wavelengths can target almost all colours present in both professional and non-professional tattoos. The QSwitched mode is fundamental because the emission time of the light impulse must be extremely short i.e. in nanoseconds so that the basal membrane (a membrane that separates the dermis from the epidermis) is not damaged and post- treatment scar formation is prevented. This laser is used to remove black and/or coloured tattoos, but it is also indicated for the removal of skin spots in general.

Titan
Titan uses infrared light, a polychromatic light that is absorbed by water causing the dermis to heat up and cause collagen contraction and, consequently, skin contraction that resembles a facelift (tightening). This also stimulates new collagen production, thus improving texture and elasticity of the skin.

This method (Thermage’s alter ego) has a specific indication for the correction of sagging skin in areas including face, arms, abdomen, inner thighs, and knees.
