1.5 T MRI
NHS accredited

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging is based on the use of magnetic fields. It produces images on cross-sections of the body (as with the CAT) also on different angles.

The patient lies on a bed which is placed in a machine that releases the magnetic field. At times a contrast agent may be needed. The exam usually does not last more than 30 minutes. Thanks to the action of the magnetic fields and through a computer, three-dimensional images of the organ to be examined are obtained.

The MRI is particularly suitable for the examination of soft tissues, muscles, internal organs, blood vessels, ligaments, and the nervous system. Nuclear magnetic resonance is not recommended for patients with pacemakers, prostheses with electronic circuits, neuro-stimulators and other types of prostheses.
