The fact that the patient is free and not closed inside a ‘capsule’ allows doctors to put the patient’s arms, knees, shoulders, backbone, muscles and skeleton in different positions. Open MRI scans are performed on small, medium and large joints, backbone, encephalon, auditory canal.
